Term Meaning Comments
Üçüncü KapI(sI) Third Gate. Gateway into the Fourth Court of Topkapı Palace -- on its southeast corner, near the Kiosk of Abdülmecid, opposite the Goth's Column. It leads to the Chamber of the Chief physician. The 'Third Gate' was probably built in middle of the 19th Century by French architects.
Üsküdar Also known as, Scutari (by 'Europeans'). A favorite place for sultans to get away from the rigors of Topakpı Palace life. This section of İstanbul is on the Asian side of the Bosphorus.
