And while each of these films had a basically humorous premise, Mine Mutlu appeared nude and 'made love' in each of them. Mine Mutlu only made 'erotik' films in the 3 year period between 1974-1976. She made 5 such 'erotik' films in 1974, 9 in 1975, and 1 in 1976). In 1976, she withdrew entirely from 'erotik' film-making even though she was 'at the top of her game' -- and she tried to re-invent herself on stage, as a performing singer. Mine Mutlu is Mesut Engin's captive in the 1975 'erotik' drama Tatlı Tatlı (Sweet Sweet) Click! Mine Mutlu and Mahmut Hekimoğlu make hay in the 1975 'erotik' adventure film Dam Budlası (Woman Crazy) Click! But, the stigma of her 'erotik' film years followed her and she never successfully shook it off. "You may take the girl out of the films but you can't take the films out of the girl," became the public attitude. 'Butlu' in Turkish-language is a reference to the meaty rump of a cow or other such animal. Mine Mutlu made a final non-'erotik' film appearance in the Arabesk movie Beddua (The Curse) in 1980, which starred Bülent Ersoy just before he underwent sexual 'reassignment surgery' in London in 1981. Beddua is the story of Bülent, a 'small town boy' whose music teacher recognizes the young fellow's talent and recommends further voice training at an Istanbul Conservatory. At the same time, Bülent is working in a factory where he is attracted to the owner's daughter, Mine... who at first returns the young man's attentions. But when she makes fun of him, Bülent quits his job in a huff -- and goes off to Istanbul to seek his fortune. Once there, he does indeed take the Turkish music world by storm -- but he continues to pine for Mine, and she for him. In the moving musical lament from this film clip (a 9.8MB Windows Media Video .WMV file), the lovelorn Mine and Bülent may be separated -- but they are still very much on each other's minds. When Bülent Ersoy returned from London a woman after his sex-change operation in 1981, Mine Mutlu was only 33 years old. But she had less than 10 years to live.
