Misunderstanding Mama...

My Mother's native tongue is Turkish, and sometimes she makes mistakes in understanding English.

One day my Dad, who is American, and my Mom were watching the old classic movie "San Francisco" starring Clark Gable as "Blackie the Gambler" and Spencer Tracy as a priest.

In the film, Blackie and the priest had been childhood friends, but as they grew older, their lives had gone in different 'directions' -- even though their friendship remained unchanged.

At one point in the movie, Spencer the priest turned to Clark the gambler and said,

"Blackie...one day I'm going to save your mortal soul."

Dad remembers that Mom looked puzzled for a moment, but then got up and went to the kitchen cabinet and returned with a cylindrical blue box of Morten's Salt.

She looked at Dad and asked, "Why would the priest want to save this for Blackie?"
